Glenavon 1-2 Glentoran
JJB Sports Premiership - Saturday, 25th October, 2008
GLENTORAN held onto pole position with this defeat of Glenavon at Mourneview Park.

Glenavon might have taken an early lead when, on 10 minutes, Willo McDonagh burst through from midfield to chest the ball down and deliver a shot onto the inside of the post.

But it was league leaders Glentoran who opened the scoring on 17 minutes through Gary Hamilton who was on hand to turn home a Kyle Neill corner.

However, the Lurgan Blues levelled on 35 minutes through Tony Grant who dispatched a header past Elliott Morris after Niall Hudson's inch perfect cross from the wing.

Glentoran regained the advantage, however, on 76 minutes when Andrew Waterworth collected the ball 18 yards out before turning his marker to deliver a shot past substitute 'keeper Tuda Murphy into the bottom corner.

And Glenavon's afternoon ended on a disappointing note when they were reduced to ten men following Hudson's late dismissal after collecting his second booking of the game.
