Glenavon 1-3 Glentoran
Carling Premiership - Saturday, 20th February, 2010
GLENTORAN recovered from a goal down to claim all three points from this explosive visit to Mourneview Park to move level on points at the top of the table.

Glenavon moved in front on 11 minutes through Tony Grant who met a Hugh Davey cross to the back post with a header past 'keeper Elliott Morris.

The game roared into life on the half-hour mark when referee Brian Turkington dismissed Ryan Harpur and Shane McCabe following an altercation as both players lay on the ground.

Moments later Glentoran almost levelled after a Gary Hamilton header was cleared off the line before Johnny Taylor's follow-up was headed onto the crossbar by Eamonn Murray.

However, they had to wait until the 67th minute for that equaliser when Michael Halliday directed a glancing header from a Jason Hill left-wing cross beyond Andrew Plummer.

Hill then went one better seven minutes later when fired the visitors into the lead with a left-foot effort which took a deflection off Mark Haughey before rising over the home 'keeper.

Glenavon's afternoon went from bad to worse less than five minutes after that after they were reduced to nine men following Hugh Davey's booking - his second of the game - for appearing to kick the ball away following the awarding of a free-kick.

Then, as if to compound their misery, the Lurgan Blues fell further behind with nine minutes remaining when Hamilton knocked home Glentoran's third goal after Keith Gillespie knocked the ball back into the danger zone following a Jay Mageee error.
