Institute 0-1 Dungannon Swifts
Co-operative Insurance Cup - Tuesday, 15th December, 2009
DUNGANNON Swifts completed the formalities of reaching their first Co-operative Insurance Cup semi-final with this narrow defeat of Institute at the Riverside.

Already 6-2 up from the first leg Dixie Robinson's side were never really in any danger of letting slip their hold on this tie despite 'Stute's best efforts at staging what would have been a sensational comeback.

The home side did create a couple of chances in the first half with first Stephen Parkhouse testing Alvin Rouse on 12 minutes before, close to the break, a Kevin Ramsey downward header from just six yards bounced just short of the target.

But the only goal of the game fell for the visitors with 16 minutes remaining and in some style when midfielder Neil McCafferty cracked an unstoppable 25-yard free-kick from the edge of the area past 'keeper Alan Ryan and into the top right corner.
