The Bannsiders opened the scoring after 12 minutes in controversial circumstances when Stephen Carson and 'keeper Elliott Morris went up for the ball.

Morris fell to the ground clutching his face while Carson calmly stroked the ball into the empty net.

Glentoran levelled on 36 minutes, though, when Daryl Fordyce curled the ball beyond David O'Hare into the top left corner after bringing the ball in from the right.

Coleraine almost regained the lead early in the second half when Darren Boyce headed just over from a Carson cross.

Gareth Harkin then sent an effort narrowly wide from distance while, at the other end, Fordyce just missed making contact to a Hamilton ball played across the area.

Glentoran's winner came five minutes from time. Michael Halliday won a penalty when he was brought down at the corner of the area by Paddy McLaughlin and from the resultant spot-kick Hamilton cheekily lobbed the ball to the left of O'Hare.
