Ballymena United 5-2 Ballinamallard United
JJB Sports Irish Cup - Saturday, 13th February, 2010
KEVIN Kelbie was the hat-trick hero for Ballymena United as they defeated Ballinamallard United to make the quarter-finals.

The Sky Blues grabbed the advantage on 14 minutes when, following a period of free flowing football, Chris Ramsey crossed for Mark Surgenor to fire home his second goal in as many games.

However, the visitors were back on level terms after 25 minutes when Cathal Beacom unleashed a tremendous drive from 30 yards to beat Dwayne Nelson.

Ballymena regained the lead, though, on 33 minutes thanks to Kelbie who collected a pass from Ramsey before firing home with his right foot from 20 yards.

And Sky Blues captain Gary Haveron looked to have sealed the tie within a minute of the restart when he turned home a half-volley from ten yards out.

Kelbie added Ballymena's fourth on 57 minutes with a straightforward tap-in before substitute Seamus Quigley pulled one back for the Mallards from a Duwayne McManus corner.

But Kelbie grabbed his hat-trick just a couple of minutes after that from the spot to book Ballymena's place in the quarter-finals.
