Glenavon 2-1 Coleraine
Carling Premiership - Saturday, 6th February, 2010
GLENAVON gave their top six ambitions a huge boost with this victory over fellow hopefuls Coleraine at Mourneview Park.

After a scoreless first half which saw leading scorer Rory Patterson fire over for the Bannsiders and Trevor Molloy's chip for Glenavon go narrowly wide the game roared into life after the break.

Coleraine might have gone ahead early in the proceedings when Jay Magee conceded a penalty for a foul on Patterson ..... but the visiting striker failed to beat 'keeper Andrew Plummer.

Glenavon then capitalised through James Costello on 62 minutes who knocked the ball home at the second attempt after Eamon Murra and Ryan Harpur had crafted the opening.

The Bannsiders looked to have secured a point from minutes from time when Patterson turned and sent a shot - albeit via a deflection - beyond Plummer.

But substitute Conor Walsh had the last laugh for the Lurgan Blues when, with a minute left, he slotted the ball past Davy O'Hare from four yards after collecting the ball from Willo McDonagh.
